Your petitioner, G. W. HAYNIE respectfully represents that he
is a resident citizen of MONTAGUE County, in the State of Texas, and that he
makes this application for the purpose of obtaining a pension under the act
passed by the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Texas, and approved May
12, A. D. 1899, the same being an act entitled "An act to carry into effect the
amendment to the Constitution of the State of Texas, providing that aid may be
granted to disabled and dependent Confederate soldiers, sailors, and their
widows under certain conditions, and to make an appropriation therefore," and I
do solemnly swear that the answers I have given to the following questions are
true.

years, resides in MONTAGUE County, in the State of Texas, and resided in said

FARMER, that his physical condition is VERY BAD and is unable to earn a

1st Int.
My name is John E. Pruitt. My age is fifty six years. My occupation
is farmer. I reside at Jacksonville, Ala.
2nd Int.
I know G. W. HAYNIE the applicant for pension. I knew him in Calhoun
county Alabama. I have known him for forty five (45) years. When I
last seen him I suppose he was near seventy (70) old.
3rd. Int.
I know the said G. W. HAYNIE served as a confederate soldier in the civil war in
Co. D 31st Regiment of Alabama Volunteers. I think enlisted in 1862 and
served until the close of the (war?). He was honorable discharged at
Saulisbery, NC (something is marked out) in April or May 1865. I
were discharged at the same time, and being a member of the same company & Reg.
we come part of the way home together.
4th Int.
I do not remember the said HAYNIE being wounded while in the Service.
5th Int.
I know the said G.W. HAYNIE never deserted the confederacy. I was member of the
same company & Regiment and were discharged at the same time from the service of
the Confederate States.
