Family Group Sheet
John Weir
Isabelle Black

1. John Weir, born Abt. 1775 in Scotland; died Bef. 1840. He married (1) Isabelle Black Abt. 1800. She was born Abt. 1785 in VA, and died Aft. 1850 in Carroll Co, GA.

Notes for John Weir:

John Weir emigrated from Scotland to America when he was about 17 yrs. old. (abt 1792). Six brothers came with him. Thomas, Samuel, Isaac, Hughey, James, and David. All stopped in South Carolina and some of them later moved on to Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. Samuel never married, returned to Scotland and died.

Some say that John and Isabell had at least two other daughters. Ann Weir married William L. Parr in Jackson Co, GA October 25, 1823. Ann died and her sister Jane Weir married the same man in Jackson Co, GA December 8, 1825.

A fellow researcher says that John died in Clarke Co, GA and left a will there.  I've ordered the will and after examination, if I believe it's the right one I will transcribe it on this site. (Note: Sept. 4, 2004 - still have not heard from Clarke Co.)
