Family Group Sheet
John Mott
Elizabeth

1. JOHN2 MOTT (JOHN1) was born 1570 in Essex, England, and died Jul 1656 in Portsmouth, Newport Co, RI. He married ELIZABETH. She was born Abt. 1566 in England, and died Jan 2, 1609/10 in Essex, England.

Notes for JOHN MOTT:

John evidently migrated to the colonies about the same time as his son, Adam although I have not found him listed on a ships list. In Portsmouth, RI town records he is referred to as "oulde John Mott". See notes for his son Adam Mott, Sr.

JOHN, Newport, perhaps brother of the first Adam, signed the compact at the same time with him, July 1638, was of Block island or one of the same name, 1684.
** Note: or, more likely, it was his father.

John MOTT was born in 1570 in Of, Saffron Walden, Essex, England. He died in Jul 1656 in Portsmouth, Newport, RI. He married Elizabeth Mrs MOTT who was born about 1566 of England. She died on Jan 2, 1610 in Saffron Waldon, Essex, England. She was buried on Jan 2, 1610/11 in Saffron Waldon, Essex, England.

From "The American Genealogist Vol. 20, page 227-228
The following entries from Saffron Waldon, Essex, England may pertain to Adam's father, John Mott:

Buried Jan 2, 1610/11, Elizabeth wife of John Mott;
Buried May 4, 1619, Catherine, wife of John Mott;
Buried Jan 2, 1619, Ann, Daughter of John Mott;
Baptized Sep 29, 1625, Elizabeth daughter of John and Mary Mott.

Although the above may refer to John Mott, father of Adam Mott I need more evidence before listing more wives and children for John.

More About ELIZABETH:

Burial: Essex, England

Child of JOHN MOTT and ELIZABETH is:

1.  ADAM3 MOTT, SR., b. Aug 12, 1596, Cambridge, England; d. Aug 12, 1661, Portsmouth, Newport Co, RI.

Notes for Adam Mott, Sr.
